The Kiri Honeycomb Bread - a sweet and delicious treat best enjoyed with your Ramadan shows.
Ingredients
- Beehive dough
- 8 pecans (cut into quarters)
- 8 Kiri squares (each cut into 4 quarters)
- Egg wash
Cream cheese caramel:
- 200 grams sugar (1 cup)
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 113 grams butter (or one stick)
- 4 Kiri cheese squares
- 120 ml cream (1/2 cup)
Cooking steps
Kiri Caramel Sauce (Goo):
- In a saucepan, melt the sugar and add the butter, Kiri cheese, and cream
- Once the sauce is consistent and thick, remove it from the heat and set it aside
Beehive Dough Preparation (Crust):
- Roll out the beehive dough and use a round mold to cut small round pieces for stuffing
- Place ¼ kiri cheese square and a quarter pecan in the center of the circle
- Round the dough and create a ball, then place it on the baking tray or in a half crescent shape
- Repeat this process until you form the beehive pastry shape, leaving some space between the balls as they will grow in size after proofing
- Cover the tray and set it aside for 5-10 minutes until the balls almost double in size
- Bake until the tops are golden brown (approximately 20 mins at 180 degrees)
- Drizzle Kiri caramel sauce over the pastries, garnish with pecans, and serve
